Introduction
The 3
days course covers a wide range of topics in product design to give
participants the necessary knowledge and know how to design for performance and
sustainability. They will learn how to
design new products
from plastics materials or combinations of plastics with other materials where
by the end products can be commercialize.

Prerequisites
Participants attending this
course must have Basic Solidwork and plastic processing know how. Some
experience in operating machines is useful but not required.
Objectives
Upon completion of the
course, the participants should be able to:
(a) Construct a basic polymer product design specification.
(b) Design a basic polymer product from first principles.
(c) Analyze the influence of polymer processing upon product design and
final properties.
(d) Analyze the influence of specific polymer properties upon product design.
(e) Undertake basic quality appraisal of new polymer products
(f) Capable to design plastic parts using solidwork.

through a combination between theoretical talk, demonstration and practical
lessons.

Instructor
The instructor for this
course is Mr Badaruddin Bin Md Yunus who is a senior instructor at ILP Jitra.
Mr Badaruddin has 25 years experience in plastic technology. He graduated from
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 1985 with a Diploma in Mechanical
Engineering. He also has a Diploma in Plastic Engineering Technology from
Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Canada.
Mr Badaruddin has taught many courses on plastic technology to both local and international participants. His expertise is recognized by the Department of Skill Development (DSD) where Mr Badaruddin frequently take parts in syllabus and material development sessions organized by DSD for plastic technology programs.
